Tackling Hunger Month is an annual designation observed in October.
You may not always see it in your community, but hunger continues to affect people in our country. 1 in 6 Americans, that's 33 million people, do not know where their meals will come from on a daily basis. This month, everyone is encouraged to lend a hand in making sure nobody goes to sleep on an empty stomach.
Locally there are numerous non-profits, food pantries, community gardens and programs with companies & schools to make sure individuals are not struggling with food insecurity.
For example- FEED bags, Terra Thread are products that give back!
Many schools & universities have programs, like Wake Tech's Nest program.
Programs with longevity in the Apex community include White Oak Foundation and Western Wake Crisis Ministry.
There are also organizations like The Poe Center that teach kids how to grow healthy foods, cook healthy meals and inspire them to live healthy.
Start your own initiative for food collection or volunteer in your community.
We also encourage you to think about your branding moments- ask us about innovative, low cost strategies to increase awareness for the work your company or organization is doing to tackle hunger; we have ideas!
