The Appeal of Unconditional Love

Societal norms, family values or individual expectations shape our choices when it comes to love. Pets however, love us unconditionally. National Love Your Pet Day is coming up on February 20th. Consider this, sixty-seven percent of U.S. households, or about 85 million families, own a pet, according to the 2019-2020 National Pet Owners Survey conducted by the American Pet Products Association (APPA). That number increased by 56 percent, since first surveyed in 1988.

We are a dog family, a 4 legged family since 1987. Every weekend our lab, Holly, looks forward to trips to the local dog park. She "knows" it's the weekend and starts "lobbying" us to go to the park through a series of twists and howls.

Your favorite pet might be a cat, reptile or bird, rather than a dog.
