Education is key to shaping behavior and one local town used the power of promotional products to shape an educational story around the town's super advocate- Storm Walter!
The Town of Fuquay-Varina has implemented a public education program to educate the community about the impacts of stormwater discharges on local water bodies and the steps that can be taken to reduce stormwater pollution. The Town has targeted several pollutants for educational needs such as sediment, litter, illegal dumping, improper disposal of waste, and nitrogen.
Educational materials remind residents of the importance of their choices to keeping water clean.
Public volunteers can help the town's goals. The Town of Fuquay-Varina encourages public involvement and participation in stormwater management by seeking Zone Captain volunteers to organize Litter Pickup Events and by partnering with Wake County Big Sweep and NCDOT's Litter Sweep.
One of many pollutants includes dog poop! Yep, but the town will provide you a free set of baggies and would love to see photos of your fur-legged friends.
